SUMMARY:

Chapter 19 opens in the chaos following Kuon’s betrayal, with Team Z reeling as Team W takes full advantage of their two-man disadvantage. The score stands at 4–3, and frustration explodes when Raichi nearly attacks Kuon in fury. As the match continues, Isagi realizes how badly the odds are stacked against them. Team W knows every detail of their strategies because Kuon leaked everything, leaving Isagi and the others exposed and outnumbered. The Wanima brothers mock Team Z openly, proving how devastating it is to face opponents who already know your strengths and weaknesses.

The chapter shifts focus to Hyoma Chigiri when the Wanima twins target him directly. They taunt him about his past, triggering a flashback that reveals his history as a prodigy blessed with extraordinary speed. Once viewed as a rising star with a future at the national level, Chigiri built his identity around his talent. But during a crucial match, he suffered a devastating ACL tear that threatened to end his career entirely. The fear of reinjury, more than the injury itself, became the heavy chain that bound him psychologically, stopping him from running at full speed and silencing the confidence he once possessed.

As the memories deepen, Chigiri remembers the pressure of being labeled gifted, the jealousy of rivals, and the suffocating fear that losing his speed meant losing his worth. His rehab was long and painful, and even after returning to the field, he felt like a shadow of his former self. The Wanima brothers exploit this insecurity ruthlessly, pushing him into emotional paralysis by questioning what value he has if his greatness is gone.

Back in the present, Chigiri stands frozen as Team W pushes toward what could be the decisive goal. He admits internally that he has spent years searching for a quiet way to give up on soccer, hoping defeat would release him from his fear. As Team Z falls further behind and the clock winds down, he convinces himself that losing this match will finally end his painful struggle.

Just when his resignation hardens, Isagi shouts his name with desperate conviction. His voice cuts through Chigiri’s fear, insisting the match isn’t over. That moment of raw belief makes Chigiri’s heart pound again, setting the stage for a turning point that could either break him completely or awaken the player he used to be.
