SUMMARY:

Chapter 16 begins with Team Z studying footage of their next opponents, Team W. The focus immediately falls on the Wanima twins, Keisuke and Junichi, whose eerie coordination and near-telepathic combination play make them the core threat. Their movements are so synchronized that they scored four points in their previous match, and Team Z quickly realizes that defeating them means breaking that connection. As they prepare, Kuon introduces a new tactical structure built around three rotating trios, allowing every group to use their individual “weapons” for thirty minutes each. Despite the teasing over Kuon’s dramatic naming sense, the team adopts “Operation: 3×3 All Stars” and enters the match more united than ever.

When the game begins, the power of the Wanima twins becomes clear. Their one-touch passes and mirrored movements tear through Team Z’s defense, overwhelming every attempt to slow them down. Their tactic relies heavily on eye contact, a silent communication method that allows them to adapt instantly and remain unpredictable. The pressure intensifies when the twins taunt Chigiri, exposing his secret past as the “Glass Prodigy” and mocking his fear of re-injury. Their cruel jabs shake him, and Team Z struggles to compensate as Chigiri hesitates at critical moments.

Isagi notices Chigiri’s turmoil and confronts him directly. He refuses to let Chigiri retreat into fear and reminds him that Blue Lock exists for players willing to fight for their future, not their past. While the twins try to weaponize Chigiri’s trauma, Isagi insists that what matters is the present and the will to change. His words ignite the team, and as the pressure mounts, Gagamaru breaks through and scores the first goal of the match, giving Team Z a sudden but vital 1–0 lead.

The chapter ends with Chigiri frozen between fear and possibility. The score sparks hope in Team Z, but for Chigiri, the real battle begins now. He stands on the edge of a personal breakthrough, caught between the past that haunts him and the future that Blue Lock demands he claim.
